GRAS 42AG Multifunction Sound Calibrator, Class 1
Sound pressure level: 94 dB or 114 dB
Frequency: 250 Hz or 1 kHz
ANSI: S1.40
IEC: 60942 class 1
GRAS 42AG Multifunction Sound Calibrator is a portable, battery-operated sound source for calibration and inspection of microphones and sound level meters. It is designed for field use and is equipped with a protective casing. This complies with the requirements in IEC 60942 for class 1 sound calibrators.
This can produce a 250 Hz or 1 kHz sinusoidal signal at 94 dB or 114 dB. For documentation purposes, 42AG provides a display of environmental conditions: ambient air pressure, temperature.
Sound is produced by a small speaker integrated in the acoustic coupler. The internal reference microphone measures the level on the coupler and the feedback circuit automatically adjusts the level. Therefore, the calibration level is almost independent of ambient conditions such as temperature, atmospheric pressure, and humidity within the specified operating range.
The calibrator has been designed to service smaller and smaller sized microphones and sound level meters equipped with the microphone. The 1 "microphone goes directly into the calibrator coupler, while the 1/2", 1/4 "and 1/8" microphones are served by the adapter application which is part of the shipment.
This calibrator is powered by two types of LR03 (AAA size) alkaline batteries. If the voltage supplied by the battery is too low to ensure proper operation, the calibrator will automatically turn off or not turn on.
The benefits
42AG is designed to meet the needs of portable and versatile calibrators for field use. In addition, it is designed to be a logical substitute or enhancement of the existing calibrator.
